By this point the program still carried the on-screen title Slimer! and The Real Ghostbusters, but the half-hour slot was given over chiefly to standard Ghostbusters stories rather than separate Slimer-focused shorts. The opening titles were kept, and the theme was reworked into a harder rock arrangement of the Ray Parker, Jr. "Ghostbusters" tune. Fans often single out this late stretch of the series as a weaker one, with criticism aimed at its music and animation.
